Smiley McSmiles

Man, my mommy sure is funny looking!

Hey, there's my good friend Mr. Camera!

Seriously, Mommy you are sooooo funny!

Stop stealing all my kisses!

We've been getting lots of smiles around our house these days. How did we make it through the day without them.

Two Months Old

Saturday, Teegen turned two months old! I cannot believe how time has gone by so fast. And she is developing quite the personality. Today, Larry and I took her for her two month doctor's visit, which included a vaccine or tow. I'm thankful that we have such a great doctor who listed to my concerns regarding vaccinations and is working with us to develop our own schedule of vaccines. Teegen handled the injection better than I thought. She hardly cried at all. Mom on the other hand, felt a bit faint and almost threw up!

Here's a little update on the girl:

  • She now weighs a whopping 11lbs 9 ozs. That's three pounds from last visit!
  • She measures in at 23.5 inches long.
  • She is sporadically sleeping through the night. I attribute this to the swaddling.
  • She is very vocal and loves to "talk"
  • She is able to hold her head up, for the most part. She still has some wobbly moments.
  • She has started to smile when someone smiles at her.
  • She loves to be carried in the Hotsling*.
  • She loves to have someone sing to her.
  • She has finally outgrown her newborn sleepers
  • She is the spit-up queen

Seriously...who is this strange boy?

Maybe I'll give you half of a grin

I love this blanket!

Hey Mommy, I like your new hair, but my dress is too big!

Really...my dress is too big.
But it looks good on me!

* I just want to go on record and say that I love my Hotsling and the idea of carrying my daughter in it. I fell in love with them long before we even started to discuss adoption. And as soon as we found out that we were going to be parents, I immediately ordered one in the "Tattoo" pattern, which features skulls, hearts, etc....a very edgy look, which I loved. A few days ago, Larry, being the great husband that he is, washed the sling...and dried it...shrinking it beyond belief. So, I went to order another one, but alas...no Tattoo pattern. So, what's a girl to do?.....I ordered two more in different patterns. Teegen has such a large wardrobe, I figured we needed some choices. If you are curious about slings, I would definately check out Hotslings!

Growing and Growing

Teegen at 2 weeks old

The Perfect Nursery

I've been meaning to post some pictures of T's room, since even before we knew about T. I love her nursery and think that it turned out even better than I had hoped. I started working on this last summer and finished it about three weeks before T entered the family (I took more than one painting hiatus). I must admit that I cannot decide on a favorite animal.

9 to 5 ( or more like 8:30 to 5)

I've been in a bit of a funk this week, which has led to a bit of a blogging drought. I've had so much on my mind and have been trying to weed through some ups and downs.

After seven glorious weeks as a stay at home mom, I returned to work last Monday. I only got teary-eyed once, as I pulled out of the driveway, but the little girl was in the capable hands of her daddy. Larry took three weeks off from work to spend some quality time with T, which was awesome! I'm so glad that they are getting to spend some time together. I'm a little jealous though, since she is becoming more alert. But nonetheless, they are having fun. I was also jealous when I got home Friday after 5 p.m to find both father and daughter still comfortably decked out in their pajamas.

I have mixed feelings over being at work. The last seven weeks had been so blissful and peaceful, even with the crying and the dirty diapers. I'm starting to feel that perhaps I'm at a career crossroads, not knowing where to focus. Ultimately, I have to work, particularly if we want to give T everything that she needs, wants and deserves; as well as being able to one day add another member to the family. I hope to sit for my professional counselor's license before year's end, which will open some doors; but at the same time I really enjoy what I do now (for the most part). Decisions, Decisions. Fortunately, nothing has to be decided right now.

She knew just what I needed

After a rough afternoon, Teegen knew just what I needed. Her first real grin on film!

I'll smile bigger if you lose the camera
